Writing Prompt #95
I’ve been a bad blogger…relying on easy posts, like this one. 😉
I finished the recent chapter of Dragon Age fanfic I was working on, so now maybe I can move onto something else. I have lots of things pending, so it would be good if I could get that out of my system, at least for the time being.
Perhaps I could try writing a few flash fiction pieces? Let’s give that a try. Wanna join me?

I’ve been in a state of avoidance. Finding consolation in escapism. And the only person that affects, the only person that suffers, is me.
I don’t know why exactly either. Actually, I have a couple of theories. Regardless, it’s about doing what you can with what you have in the hopes that you can keep moving forward.

It’s Friday again?! My life is flashing by…gracious, I better start making better use of my down time!
I honestly planned on posting this Wednesday, when I was supposed to, but it was the first day in nearly two weeks I had the house all to myself, so you can imagine what I did. Yep, I gamed, for like six hours, and I do not feel guilty about it, except now that I realize it’s Friday…again.
Sheesh.
I saw this week’s image and knew right away it was the one I wanted to share with you. I was drawn to it immediately.

There’s so much going on in the world right now that it’s hard to stay sane and not want to escape into our creative worlds full-time. I have things I want to say, and while I’m not sure I want to put it in this space, as I keep this blog as a journal as well, I may have to break my silence. I’m still pondering the idea, so be forewarned. 😉
This is why I feel today’s quote is so very apropos.

Writing Prompt #93
How is it Friday already?! Honestly, it’s like I’m always a day behind, or two in this case.
As many of you are already aware, I love Pinterest. It’s a great way to find and save images that represent a piece you may be writing, or a great time sucker depending on the day. Don’t believe me? Click on the ‘P’ to the right and see. If you were planning on doing something else, you may find yourself in a pin-hole, well, that’s how I refer to it anyway – hours lost to scrolling and clicking and saving and then finding new things…and repeat.
I wanted to get back on track, and no matter the day, there’s always time for a little inspiration. Here’s this week’s Writing Prompt:

Opportunities for Writers
When I find a writing opportunity, I like to share.
If you’re not following Aerogramme Writers’ Studio yet, you definitely should! Like right now. Go. I’ll wait. 😉
Okay, now that you’re back, let’s get to business.
Aerogramme sends regular monthly emails with opportunities, and then a number of other emails throughout the month when they discover something new. Now you don’t have to waste your time not writing because you’re looking for avenues to showcase your work, they’ll come to you.
Here are two, for example:
- Kathy Fish Fellowship for Flash Fiction Writers via SmokeLong Quarterly. Applications will be accepted until September 15th which is only a week away, but there’s no entry fee (although a $5 donation is suggested) and they accept unsolicited material all year round.
- Buzzfeed’s 2nd Annual Emerging Writers Fellowship is open until October 1st. The winners will spend four months being mentored in either NY or LA and win $12,000 to financially support themselves while they learn. There is a great deal of work required to enter this one (a resume, a personal statement, 5 writing examples, and 3 letters of reference), so if you’re interested, get crackin’!
