It’s Friday again?! My life is flashing by…gracious, I better start making better use of my down time!
I honestly planned on posting this Wednesday, when I was supposed to, but it was the first day in nearly two weeks I had the house all to myself, so you can imagine what I did. Yep, I gamed, for like six hours, and I do not feel guilty about it, except now that I realize it’s Friday…again.
I saw this week’s image and knew right away it was the one I wanted to share with you. I was drawn to it immediately.
How about you? Feeling inspired?
There’s so much going on in the world right now that it’s hard to stay sane and not want to escape into our creative worlds full-time. I have things I want to say, and while I’m not sure I want to put it in this space, as I keep this blog as a journal as well, I may have to break my silence. I’m still pondering the idea, so be forewarned. 😉
This is why I feel today’s quote is so very apropos.
If you feel like I do, keep your chins up, my friends! And try to have a wonderful and productive week!
How is it Friday already?! Honestly, it’s like I’m always a day behind, or two in this case.
As many of you are already aware, I love Pinterest. It’s a great way to find and save images that represent a piece you may be writing, or a great time sucker depending on the day. Don’t believe me? Click on the ‘P’ to the right and see. If you were planning on doing something else, you may find yourself in a pin-hole, well, that’s how I refer to it anyway – hours lost to scrolling and clicking and saving and then finding new things…and repeat.
I wanted to get back on track, and no matter the day, there’s always time for a little inspiration. Here’s this week’s Writing Prompt:
Come write with me!
It’s hard not to let some words affect you, to keep moving forward in spite of the negativity and resistance, but in our efforts to rise above it all, this week’s quote is a great mantra to adopt.
Keep reaching for your dreams!
I was struck by today’s prompt visually, but I don’t have a story idea…yet.
Are you inspired?
Come write with me!
When I find a writing opportunity, I like to share.
If you’re not following Aerogramme Writers’ Studio yet, you definitely should! Like right now. Go. I’ll wait. 😉
Okay, now that you’re back, let’s get to business.
Aerogramme sends regular monthly emails with opportunities, and then a number of other emails throughout the month when they discover something new. Now you don’t have to waste your time not writing because you’re looking for avenues to showcase your work, they’ll come to you.
Here are two, for example:
- Kathy Fish Fellowship for Flash Fiction Writers via SmokeLong Quarterly. Applications will be accepted until September 15th which is only a week away, but there’s no entry fee (although a $5 donation is suggested) and they accept unsolicited material all year round.
- Buzzfeed’s 2nd Annual Emerging Writers Fellowship is open until October 1st. The winners will spend four months being mentored in either NY or LA and win $12,000 to financially support themselves while they learn. There is a great deal of work required to enter this one (a resume, a personal statement, 5 writing examples, and 3 letters of reference), so if you’re interested, get crackin’!
Wishing you the very best in all your endeavors! Good Luck!
Seriously…where does the time go? I’ve been working on a rewrite, and the time is just flying by. And what’s bad about that, you may wonder? I don’t feel as if I’ve made any huge strides towards its completion, and yes, you’ve guessed it, there’s an approaching deadline.
I’m all over the place, or at least it feels that way. I can’t let another week go by without tending to my blog and giving you a little inspiration to get you through the weekend. 😉
I like dialogue prompts because they’re open to interpretation. What does the above say to you? Are you inspired?
In light of my last post, I’m having to give myself daily pep talks in order to keep moving forward. It’s a struggle all creatives must endure, and if you’re like me at the moment, know that you aren’t alone.
We can do this! We can overcome our fears and achieve what we want in life, we just have to be brave!
Wishing you all the very best!
I am totally fascinated by this image from Bryan Olson:
A very particular idea came to mind when I saw this, and because I’ve been lackadaisical in my flash fiction writing, I’m definitely going to challenge myself to write something about this.
Will you join me?
Hi everyone! I’m back after a crazy week of Gishwhes, and a week of recovery.
I like to do a recap of the week’s events, and as you may have noticed the odd post about Miss Jean Louis, an item for this year’s hunt, it tends to get a bit weird and challenging. Because my memory is so fragmented, this blog has become a resource for me to keep track of things, so I’ll share Team Falkor’s antics later this week.
As for today, it’s time to get back to routine and progress!
In light of the creativity that abounds during Gish week, and the post I wrote just a few days before it started about how I was feeling burnt out, I am now seeking out alternative means for creativity. I’m looking to surround myself with people who are passionate and creative, because the above quote is true.
I have found myself inspired by other’s creativity, and I think that is a wonderful side effect to the creative life. So let’s be a creative force and make beautiful things!
